Perspectives for the French wine sector
Date : 2 June 2009
“Consumers continue to indulge by purchasing products they enjoy. However, they have developed strong expectations in terms of quality [...]. This, combined with growing awareness concerning environmental and health issues, directly affects the success of organic products."
This is the result of the "What perspectives are in store for the French wine sector?" study, performed by the Xerfi group.
In order to confront a market where consumption is decreasing but which still displays stable sales in terms of higher quality wines, workers, wine producers and wine merchants may either opt for the notoriety of recognized wines or for developing an environmentally friendly philosophy thanks to wines produced organically.
According to this study, wine consumption should continue to decrease in France and shall attain 31.6 million Hl in 2009.
