Novelty : The machine has a stack of cutting modules, each with a circular saw blade (1) arranged inside a cage (2).
The cage includes recesses (4) in which vine shoots come into engagement until they come in contact with the blade. Each module is carried by a sleeve (5).
The sleeves are threaded on each other on a drive shaft (10), such that the weight of the stack is supported uniquely by the sleeves arranged end to end.
Use : Used for pruning or pre-pruning a shrub e.g. vine (claimed).
Advantage : The sleeves, having large mechanical resistance, are threaded on each other on a drive shaft (10), such that the weight of the stack is supported uniquely by the sleeves arranged end to end, thus preventing the weight from resting on the ball bearings fixed to the cage and hence avoiding the abnormal wear out of the bearings.
The stack of the cutting modules is therefore prevented from being damaged and hence its maintenance is easier. The device permits the bearing, when damaged, to be replaced easily. The device permits the cages to be angularly shifted with respect to each other when the cages are threaded on each other, thereby avoiding the vine stakes from penetrating in the recesses of the cage.
