Luxembourg Crémant
The Luxembourg Crémant is the latest in the range of sparkling wine from Moselle Luxembourgeoise. It is distinguished from other sparkling wines by specific criteria: the variety and maturity of grapes, second fermentation in the bottle.
Quality
The Luxembourg Crément benefits from the "Marque Nationale - Appellation contrôlée Crémant du Luxembourg" brand registered on 4 January 1991.
This brand is displayed on a rectangular label on the back of the bottle. This certifies the origin and quality of the wine, subject to State control.
* Conditions for the assignment of the "Marque Nationale":
The Crémant is analysed by the laboratory of the Institut Viti-Vinicole and must receive at least 12 out of 20 points in the organoleptic assessment. The assessment is based on various criteria: colour, clarity, aroma & taste.
These assessments are carried out by members of the tasting commission of the Marque Nationale des Vins Luxembourgeois.
Luxembourg Crémant is subject to stricter limitations than other sparkling wines. The must extraction rate is limited to 100 l for 150 kg of grapes. The removal of CO² should be at least equal to 4 bar after spurging.
Production must be recorded in a "Wine press log".
Grape varieties
Luxembourg Crémant is made from the best grapes from Luxembourg vineyards: auxerrois, pinot blanc, riesling, chardonnay, pinot noir, either from one or several varieties.
Each company chooses its own mixtures.

50 producers and developers. 15 777 hectolitres produced in 2007.
Production method
Luxembourg Crémant is made using traditional methods. The second alcoholic fermentation phase is carried out in bottles.
Sales
1,549,654 bottles sold in 2007.
Exports: 88 800 bottles.
Taste
Luxembourg Crémant is suitable for all occasions. It is a fine, fresh, fruity and elegant wine.
