Main producers of sparkling wines:
- Bagrationi 1882 JSC. Founded in 1937, this cellar is the first in Georgia specialized in winemaking process especially for sparkling wines. The name « Bagrationi » corresponds to a georgian Prince surname, who elaborated during the 19th century some sparkling wines which were well known in France in 1882. Bagrationi uses mainly Charmat method.
- Vaziani JSC. Founded in 1982.
Its main sparkling wines are GOLDEN Sparkling Semi-sweet (Charmat method and 6 months of ageing - 11° of alcohol - A gold color (changing to pink) and SAMEPO Sparkling Semi-dry (Charmat method - 11° of alcoholl).
- Teliani Valley JSC
3 - The sparkling wine consumption
In 2007, the sparkling wine sales increased by an average of 30 % compared with 2006. Some efforts have been realized in research and development.
The local producers represented in 2007 99% of the georgian sparkling wine consumption.
