Resume : The device has a vacuum tank in which cork stoppers are placed and maintained under vacuum using vacuum pumps that are suitable to obtain high pumping speed.
The bottom of one of the tanks forms a door for introducing the stoppers and then removing the stoppers after maintaining the stoppers in the tank, where the stoppers are put in rotation inside the tank. The vacuum pumps are assisted by a cold panel to provide pumping with considerable vapors, and a heater is provided for heating the stoppers.
Descritpion : An independent claim is also included for a method for decontaminating a cork stopper by removing an odorant molecule e.g. trichloroanisole.
Use : Used for decontaminating a cork stopper by removing an odorant molecule e.g. trichloroanisole that is responsible for corky flavor, where the stopper is utilized for packaging wines and spirits.
Advantage : The device avoids the deformation of the stoppers, decontaminates the stopper with reduced cost and permits to determine the level of contamination.
The device ensures the decontamination of the stoppers in order to eliminate a certain number of hydrocarbons e.g. trichloroanisole, from the stopper. The device allows to process all types of stoppers and controls pollution in better manner. The heater permits to overheat the stoppers, thus accelerating the evaporation of trichloroanisole.
Descritpion of drawing :The drawing shows a longitudinal representation of a vacuum tank fixed to an internal rotary agitator.
